Tammy Miller - Founder/Executive Director
At a young age, Tammy always said she wanted to teach children. After receiving her B.S. in Elementary Education in the early 1990's, positions in the field were limited. Her early career path led her into Corporate America, working in the field of Information Technology/Networking. Knowing that this wasn't her passion, she started her own Jewelry Designing business and traveled the east coast selling her wares at Art Festivals. The flexibility of this business provided an opportunity to return to the classroom as a substitute teacher. Within less than a year, she secured a position as a first grade teacher while living in Maryland. She moved to Austin in 2008 and continued working in the field of education, as an elementary school teacher (1st and 2nd grade). After one year in the role of Assistant Principal, she moved out of the formal educational system to start ATX Kids Club. Field trips are her greatest memory of elementary school. This organization is built on the idea that all children should have the opportunity to learn outside of the walls of a classroom and take a field trip. Austin is the perfect city for children to explore. They quickly discover how easy it is to learn while having fun.
