Would you like to go to a goat ranch? How about a goat ranch turned zoo? The Austin Zoo started as a small farm with mostly domesticated animals. In 1990 it began rescuing wild animals until they became a non-profit sanctuary. Now they have over 300 animals in their 20 acre land.
We love the way the zoo is laid out. We usually start with the domestic animals. We see goats, sheep, pigs, deer and even llamas! You could buy food for them at the gift shop.
Learning about animals is usually best when you have them in front of you. Kids share their knowledge while the big cats roam around or play like a kitten would.
The zoo is open daily from 9:30am-6:00pm. Don’t forget your comfy shoes and a hat if it is hot. You can bring your own food to have an amazing picnic surrounded by peacocks. Check out our adventure schedule.
