DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

Adventure is better when everyone belongs.
ATX KIDS CLUB is committed to creating a welcoming environment where youth feel respected,
supported, and valued. We believe our community is stronger when young people have opportunities
to explore alongside others with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.

We strive to make our programs inclusive and responsive to the families
we serve while treating every camper with dignity, compassion, and respect.

OUR STORY
ATX KIDS CLUB began with a simple but powerful realization: many children in Southeast Austin, where our founder, Tammy Miller, was a teacher, rarely had opportunities to explore beyond their own neighborhoods. Field trips became the highlight of her classroom, and she saw firsthand how discovering new places sparked curiosity, confidence, and connection. Inspired by her love of education, travel, and youth development, Tammy founded ATX KIDS CLUB in 2014.

Today, our programs bring children together for field-trip adventures throughout Austin and Central Texas. Campers ride public transportation, visit cultural landmarks and local parks, and participate in hands-on activities. While every destination offers something exciting, the real magic happens throughout the journey—from sitting beside a new friend on the bus and walking through downtown Austin for the first time to finding the courage to try something new, like roller-skating.

MISSION
To empower youth through educational adventures that promote independence, confidence, and a deeper connection to their community—one field trip at a time.
VISION
To create a community in which children grow up to become confident and compassionate adults aware of their individual strength, beauty, and connection to the natural world.

We believe every child deserves the opportunity to explore, learn, and discover the world around them. Through our sliding-scale scholarships and public-transit model, we work to remove the barriers of cost and access so children from all backgrounds can participate.

ATX KIDS CLUB is about more than where we go. It’s about the friendships formed, the challenges navigated, and the growth that happens along the way. We are honored to walk alongside our campers through their highs and lows, helping them feel supported, seen, and empowered as they become confident, curious, and connected members of their community.

VALUES
INDEPENDENCE: We believe children grow when they are trusted to try new things, make choices, solve problems, and navigate unfamiliar experiences. Every adventure provides opportunities for campers to develop practical skills, take responsibility, and discover what they are capable of.

CONFIDENCE: We believe confidence is built through experience. Whether riding the bus, exploring a new place, making a new friend, or trying an unfamiliar activity, campers learn to move through challenges with courage and trust in themselves.

COMMUNITY: We believe children thrive when they feel connected, supported, and included. By exploring Austin together, campers build meaningful relationships, learn to care for one another, and discover that they are an important part of their community.
DIVERSITY STATEMENT

In order to accomplish our mission, we believe that we must be responsive to the needs of everyone in the community who may receive services, regardless of their racial/ethnic background. We will create and implement programs using our awareness of cultural differences and treat all clients with respect. Furthermore, we will create an organizational culture that values people of all racial/ethnic backgrounds and that is based on our organizational values of respect, integrity, and honesty. Our commitment to inclusiveness will be evident in our organizational policies and procedures, as part of our strategic plan, and within our organizational goals.
